Using a .txt file is an easy way to validate the ownership of your domain. You just need to add a file to the root of your server, and you'll be ready to scan in no time.
Step 1: Add the domain
First, start by adding the domain at Probely as follows:
Log in to the Probely app.
On the TARGETS list, click on the 3 vertical dots next to the ADD button, and then choose Domains on the overflow menu.
On the next page, click on ADD DOMAIN.
Type the name of your domain and click on ADD.
In the next dialog, choose the File option to verify the ownership of your domain, and click on NEXT.
You will be presented with the information you need to add the file to your server. Don't close the dialog.

Step 2: Add the file to your server
In this step, use the information provided in the Verify Domain dialog, and do the following:
Create a .txt file with the specified FILENAME.
Set the file content with the specified CONTENT.
Upload the file to your website's root directory.
Step 3: Verify the domain
Now, in the Verify Domain dialog, you can finally click on VERIFY. After the domain has been verified, you can start scanning! And, you can also remove the .txt file from your website.
Common Issues and Mistakes
Incorrect file location or access rights
Probely might not be able to access the txt file if it is in the wrong location or protected with specific access rights. To make sure this is not the issue, try manually accessing the file yourself, while logged off from your target (if it requires authentication).
Hidden Characters
Make sure the file doesn't contain additional hidden characters.
